Last week Stephen Metcalfe, local MP for South Basildon and
East Thurrock, supported Opportunity Thurrock at the Backstage Centre,
Purfleet.
Opportunity Thurrock is a borough wide Careers and Further
Education Fair produced in partnership with Thurrock schools, further education
providers, Thurrock Council and local businesses.
The Fair aims to inspire residents by showcasing the breadth
of career opportunities available in Thurrock and to provide practical advice,
information, and guidance on applying to jobs and routes into employment.
Over 1500 students made the most of Opportunity Thurrock as
well as parents and adults later on in the day.
The local MP commented: “This was a fantastic event
showcasing some of the best of Thurrock’s employment opportunities. Visitors to
the Fair will have seen the variety of opportunities on offer and I hope they
were able to make the most of the advice and guidance from the experts. Most
importantly I hope that they left motivated and inspired to make some great career
choices.”

collaborating to put on such a great event and I would like to thank all
involved in doing so. I am already looking forward to an even bigger and better
